The ACCISI-GEM project, implemented in a small farming community in the Ghar El Melh region in Tunisia, helped farmers increase agricultural production by 27% while reducing irrigation water use by 3%. Smart irrigation infrastructure following the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach was installed, while also assisting the participatory development of a vision and policy recommendations for future upscaling. ACCISI-GEM was implemented by GWP-Med together with national and local authorities and financially supported by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Malta and co-financed from the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme. |

Implemented by GWP-Med within the framework of Child Project 2.2 of the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme, the Phase II of the WEFE Nexus Assessment in Lebanon enhances the country's food security by elaborating on options for the optimisation of water allocation between competing uses through a WEFE Nexus approach. It also contributes to Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) efforts in the country, including the ICZM Strategy preparation under Child project 2.1. Phase II will be implemented in five river basins of Lebanon. |

During an Inception meeting in Tirana, 26-28 March 2025, high-level representatives from the Drin Riparians together with international agency representatives reaffirmed their commitment to work together for sustainable management, ecosystem preservation and climate resilience in the Drin River Basin. The GEF Drin II project sets a solid standard for sustainable transboundary action providing support to the implementation of the Drin Strategic Action Programme, its content endorsed by the Riparians back in 2020. The project is funded by the GEF and is implemented by UNDP in the four project beneficiary areas in partnership with relevant line ministries, GWP-Med and UNECE. |

The Municipality of Tanagra has been recognized at the Greek Green Awards 2025, receiving an award for the Zero Drop Mornos water recycling and reuse program. The project, which is being implemented by GWP-Med and is funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Coca-Cola in Greece, saves over 320 million liters of water per year through the application of a water filtration and recycling system at the Schimatari water treatment plant, the largest in the Municipality of Tanagra. |

The event opens with the GWP General Assembly 2025 (Network Meeting of Partners) β a closed session open only to registered GWP Partners, which will focus on shaping GWP's overall direction. Ξ€he subsequent High-Level Leaders Water Dialogue in the context of G20 is a public session open to all stakeholders β partners, development actors, and the broader water community. This dialogue will spotlight global leadership and bold action on climate-resilient water investments, accelerating momentum towards the Inaugural Water Investments Summit in the context of the G20 Presidency of South Africa. The event will be co-hosted by the GWPO Secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden, and the new GWPO HQ Transition Office in Pretoria, South Africa. |

The European Space Agency - ESA will award two scholarships for the 2025-2026 MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development starting in early November 2025. The scholarship programme enables students to deepen their academic expertise and prepare for careers in the water sector with a strong link to the relevant space and earth observation technologies, such as remote sensing and GIS. Students who want to pursue a caree at the crossroads of space and earth observation technology and water management and want to study at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education can submit their applications by 15 June 2025. |
