The 2nd Workshop of the regional consultation on ‘Digital Transformation for advancing Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus in the Mediterranean Source to Sea (S2S) continuum’ was held on 6-7 February 2025 in Malta and online. The consultation stressed the need to promote the scalability of initiatives, which often remain fragmented and small-scale; build on the strength of Mediterranean-wide collaboration networks; invest in capacity building and digital skills, and further improve public-private partnerships, among other aspects. The regional process is organised by the PRIMA ACQUAOUNT, TALANOA-WATER and H2020 TRANSCEND projects in synergy with and with the support of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). It will continue, assisted by the PRIMA WEFE4Med project, aiming at presenting its results at the UfM Ministerial Meeting on Water in 2026. |

On 19 February 2025, Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and Malta’s Energy and Water Agency (EWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Alter Aqua RECAP project. The initiative is focused on advancing Malta’s water resilience through promoting the use of recycled greywater for domestic uses, aiming to inform relevant enabling policies in Malta’s 4th River Basin Management Plan, which is currently under development. It builds on more than a decade of collaboration delivering tangible Non Conventional Water Resources applications, thanks to consistent funding and support by The Coca-Cola Foundation and EWA. |

📰 Empowering change management in public water agencies: GWP-Med joins the FLL Delivery Network |
GWP-Med has joined the Field-Level Leadership (FLL) Delivery Network, an initiative recently formed by the Chennai-based Centre of Excellence for Change Management and Addis Ababa Water & Sewerage Authority. The initiative will enable public water agencies to benefit from the FLL approach, which consists of a set of interventions and techniques implemented through South-South collaboration between public utilities. It includes peer-led workshops, support for emerging networks of change leaders across the organisation, and other individual and collective change initiatives, and has been successfully implemented in many World Bank-financed projects. GWP-Med’s role as the anchor organization within the newly formed network will focus on facilitating quality assurance, business development and communication, as well as knowledge management. |
