The project โMaking Water Cooperation Happen in MENA: Piloting Tangiblesโ, which is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) through the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and is managed by the Global Water Partnership Mediterranean (GWP-Med), aims to provide Jordan and Palestine with concrete and scalable solutions in order to improve water management and enhance climate change resilience. Through the application of the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus approach, the project employs multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral and gender mainstreaming approaches to capitalise on these interventions towards regional benefits for MENA countries. Capacity building activities are focusing on enhancing farmers' technical and business skills, allowing them to better select crops, reduce costs, and link them to markets. |

Maltaโs water saving heritage: relic of the past or guide to the future? |
In Malta and Gozo, over the centuries thousands of reservoirs were constructed in order to collect and store rainwater. Gradually, this vast underground network of reservoirs was forsaken. For the past decade, the Alter Aqua project, a public-partnership between GWP-Med, Malta's Energy and Water Agency, The Coca-Cola Foundation and GSD Marketing Ltd. has been implementing non-conventional water resources (NCWR) applications, supporting the restoration of these reservoirs. Steve Mallia, a designer and photographer has photographically documented over 200 of them. A number of Maltese media have paid tribute to Alter Aqua and Mr. Mallia's work on these reservoirs. ๐๐ฝRead the articles by Times of Malta, Lovin Malta and Independent. |
