|
|
Water is far from abundant in the remote Mediterranean island of Oinousses, Greece, where it is provided to households by the Municipality only 3 times a week. "Desalination has boosted our water supplies, but the energy cost is high. We need to raise awareness on the need to keep saving water and ensure that none of the newly available water resources are wasted" says the island's Mayor, Mr. Giorgos Daniil. Responding to the Mayor's invitation, the "Water is in our Hands" initiative by GWP-Med and consumer goods company Reckitt, provided the residents of Oinousses with water saving equipment, to help them save 1.000.000 litres of water over one year. |
